My art begins in the camera, then goes through some meticulous fine tuning and sometimes several layers of over painting. All of this done on the digital file with the end result being a file of several layers. Each layer has some sort of enhancement and when they are all combined… well thats the original. Then I produce Giclee prints on canvas and fine art paper. And thats the short version of a very lengthy process that I use to create each of my works.
About 5 years ago I acquired my first Digital SLR, a Nikon D100. After many thousands of exposures I managed to swing the price of an upgrade. Sure in the perfect world a new Nikon D3 would have been my choice. But $5000.00 was not in the budget. So then it boiled down to the new D300 or a used D2X. Since I had always wanted the total pro camera I went with a used Nikon D2X with only 1600 uses of the shutter on it. So needless to say the camera is in mint condition and to me its like I did finally get that $5000.00 camera, but only had to pay $1500.00 for it.
Supposedly this camera will reignite my desire to capture new images and fill the gallery with some awesome new works. Since the D2X is a 12.4 megapixel camera compared to my 6.1 megapixel D100, I will be able to make the 18×24 print my standard size and now be able to produce 20×30 and up without having to use software to increase my pixel count.
