Enough with the snow already… The first year I lived here it snowed about 3 time the entire winter and it seemed like even less every year since then. But this tops them all, I lost count after seven or eight times. Here it is the end of February and I figured snow may be over this year since it had snowed so much already this winter. For about four weeks in a row it snow two to three inches every Friday night. And even though the salt truck / snow plow comes through very regularly and the stuff melts usually by Sunday afternoon.
But now my tulips are poking their heads out of the ground and I really didn’t want them to suffer the cold chill of the snow. they didn’t fair to well when it happened last year and ended up only being in bloom for a week at the most.
So here I am today working when i notice it was dropping some flakes at about three o’clock. I looked at the temperature and saw it was a whopping °35, but that meant it most likely wouldn’t stick when it hits the ground. So I go about my routine and looked out the window just moment ago (11 PM) and saw two very fluffy inches of snow piled up.
Hopefully the snow plow will roll through before the morning since I don’t really have any food supplies here and could use a good run to Food City. At least for the first year in a while the ski slope (Ober Gatlinburg) will have a good season. They have probably had real snow on the ground since last december and have been able to keep a good base all winter long.
Well… soon enough spring will be here…
