Now for that long long overdue post… It has been over three months since my last entry, and I could say where has the time gone, but I actually know where it went. During that time I have ventured out a bit into social networking (Facebook) and also added a smart phone to my list of gadgets. But I am wondering, does that mean that all other phones are “dumb phones”? And with my “smart phone (a Blackberry Storm, which I have put the theme of an iPhone onto it) has a Facebook app on it. So I can update my facebook status with my phone (which I will refer to as my iBerry) just like on the TV commercials. There is even a mySpace, Twitter and Flicker App as well in case I wanted to dabble in all those things too.
Of course those that know me, may wonder why on earth I would want a “smart phone” when I dont even care to use or carry around one of those old “dumb phones”. Mainly it all came about as the result of a killer buy 1 get 1 free promotion from Verizon and Blackberry and the idea that being able to answer and respond to email would free me up a little bit from having to be by my computer during the day. And it has… I can now be out on a photo shoot or even just goofing off going to Walmart looking for Hot Wheels. I can answer a question a client may have and never actually have to be at my office. I can even browse the web and search for an answer or make a last minute bid on eBay. Then to top it off I can make notes, add to my calendar or contacts and sync it all with my computers at home via bluetooth or actually connect with a USB cable.
Just because I have my iBerry, you still wont find me in the midst of the craze with texting, photographing and mobile uploads. Yes.. I do text, but its not one of my main task I perform during a day. And just for the sake of trying it, I did do a mobile upload while having some popcorn chicken at KFC. As far as the camera goes… well those that know me and even many that don’t will know I love a camera too much to capture any images worthy of using with my iBerry. Mostly just a quick snapshot to send to someone or for record of some happening. But I save my real eye for the real camera and capture images with my D2X instead of my iBerry. But then I havent been taking too many personal images lately, but have used it a good bit commercial work. I captured over 980 images (edited down to 135 final images) for a brochure, billboards and othe media for a theme park in Cherokee, NC called “Santa’s Land”.
Now I start to wonder… just how long should a blog be. As for one of my drawbacks to blogging, is the fact that I can get rather carried away and type for days it seems like. But I seem to be able to run across so many simple one paragraph blogs all over the net. I guess that must be a goal for me to reach. Instead of a many paragraph long blog every three months, I need to conquer the short more frequent blogging technique. So I guess I will pause here and begin to try that practice, of course I am not sure how sucessful I will be, but I shall try.
